SBTRKT performs at Red Bull Music Academy Thursday at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland on July 9th, 2015
For 50 years, Montreux Jazz Festival has built and maintained a reputation as one of the world’s premiere music festivals, Red Bull TV proudly announces a very special artist program featuring the best and brightest up-and-coming talent in contemporary electronic and pop music who will be performing at the sold-out Montreux Jazz Festival over two weekends, July 7-9  and July 14-16 starting at 7 p.m. CEST.

It’s an event that expands well beyond the jazz spectrum so closely associated with Montreux and one that will dazzle music fans of every taste. Kicking off the special artist coverage from the Montreux Jazz Festival today at 7pm CEST is artist .

The frenetic, efficient, and offbeat synth-pop of  comes straight from the gut. That’s her voice resonating over the beats of the hit “Lean On” by Major Lazer and DJ Snake. This Danish artist also co-authored the lyrics of that song, which is now the second most listened to of all time on Spotify.  On her album No Mythologies to Follow, Karen Marie Ørsted evokes the difficulties of today’s youth, constrained to find their way in a hyperactive and demanding world. Her style comes into focus through the different musical obsessions she has traversed, from childhood to young adulthood: the sugary pop of the Spice Girls, the energy of hip hop, and the attitude of punk. This all blends into an uncompromising, youthful, and authentic electro-pop that evokes the quirky universe of Grimes. Early this year the singer unveiled the single “Don’t Leave” with the British duo Snakehips. An intense first taste of an imminent album!

Given that most of Montreux sells out a year in advance, this is a music fan’s opportunity to gain otherwise impossible access to rarified live performances. Consult the program broadcast updated details on Redbull.tv/Montreux.
