BACKAYARD

  • Queen Ifrica graces the cover of BACKAYARD Magazine and in true royal fashion, delivers a very poignant interview like reminiscent of when we did our Capleton interview but a lot softer. Done at her Kingston headquarters, Flames Productions, we shared some knowledge that the world needs to read.

Not only was Ms. Morgan on-time and already waiting when we met her at her Flames Production homebase, but she was sitting on the grilled verandah as if someone had placed her there. Her presence was calm and inviting like she would chat with just about anyone that passed by. It’s not everyday that we can boast that we met up with the Queen, and for Backayard, it was an honor. With pen and notepad in hand, Queen Ifrica was in the process of translating ‘Daddy,’ --one of her biggest hits to date-- into Spanish. An infectious Reggaeton-esq beat bumped through the speakers and we couldn’t help but notice there was no English-Spanish dictionary in sight. “Yuh ready Queen?” we asked her as she bopped her head to the beat. “Anytime unu ready,” she replied. The readiness and assurance in her voice didn’t just cue the start of the interview, but her powerful tone reflected what is very much a part of the person aptly dubbed Queen Ifrica.
