CFW Caribbean Fashion Week Kingston Jamaica

Fashionista’s and A-listers will be flocking to the fabulous CFW (Caribbean Fashion Week) being held in Kingston between the 11th and 16th June 2014.  Now in its 13th year the award-winning event promises to be a festival of sights and sounds with Caribbean and International designers showcasing their collections, alongside top-notch musical performances. The organisers ‘Pulse’ have pulled out all the stops and CFW 2014 is lauded to be the best year yet with the launch of ShopCaribbeanFashion and shopping lounges at the event where you can leave with your favourite looks. Stunning runway shows will tantalise the senses, alongside star-studded performances from Sizzla, Ninja Man and Sheila E to name a few.

BANG Radio goes for a reggae re-launch

BANG Radio, a community station in London, will change its name and format tomorrow to Riddim Radio, playing reggae and dancehall music. Founder and CEO of BANG Radio, Jennifer Ogole, says the team behind the community station brand have been working on bringing Caribbean sister station Riddim Radio to the UK.


Jamaica To Resurrect Skatalites in Hopes of Bringing Ska Back

It’s true! Prime Minister of Jamaica, Portia Simpson-Miller, has recently revealed that as the island has moved away from the music programs and love it once had for it’s rich heritage she intends to resurrect the band that first put them on the international map as they say. She intends to use holograms, much like when Tupac Shakur took the stage at the 2012 Coachella Music Festival, of the original members of the iconic band The Skatalites to help promote the island’s rcih musical history to the world yet again much like they once did at the World’s Fair in 1964.

Reggae fans had a ball at the recent Bob Marley Festival in Kandos. Three top bands – the Macquarie River Mud Flappers, Joe Tee’s Afrodisa, and Errol Renaud’s Caribbean Soul played from midday until dark and had everyone calling for more.
